Kevin Zabasky Perkins (b. 1987, Louisiana) is a self-taught artist based in Dallas, Texas, whose work delves into themes of personal identity, mythic storytelling, and internal conflict. While
initially pursuing an academic path in Theology, Perkins began using painting as a means to explore the same ends—Perkins intertwines his fascination with perennial traditions and mythological narratives into his artistic practice.

Perkins’ recent paintings are characterized by the use of unprimed, raw canvas—combined with either gouache, oil, or pastels. His work uses mythic storytelling as a pathway to understand himself by looking at story and imagery with an esoteric lens. Through his paintings, Perkins is simultaneously receiving, retelling and creating new stories—often with nods to art history mixed with personal references.

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Kevin has been an art instructor in the Dallas public school system for over a decade. His practice continues to evolve as he integrates personal experiences with broader cultural and mythological themes, creating paintings that serve as a conduit for introspection and dialogue.
